This teen adventure book starts out like any other with a volleyball to the face, a run in with the police and a visit to the principals’ office, but things really get weird when she cries tears of blood and a man with a face like Freddy Krueger tries to blow her up at school.
After being saved by her therapist, Doc, Jenica discovers the source of her less-than-sunny disposition stems from the rage of an ancient immortal being imprisoned inside her soul! Doc drags Jenica to a remote camp in the Mexican jungle where she discovers she is not the only one with a cantankerous captive in her gut. In fact, there is a group of them who call themselves vessels. Her newfound friends try to teach Jenica to channel the power of the immortal inside her to perform superhuman feats.

While her new powers prove exciting, Jenica’s greatest thrill is friendship—a new phenomenon for the formerly friendless honey badger. Doc continues to guide Jenica through the intricacies of friendship as well as her astonishing new powers. Just as life starts to settle, Jenica finds the particular immortal trapped inside her is inviting the attention of an unsavory fan club, including a monster who regrows its limbs and the Freddy-faced arson who already tried to kill her once. Although the reason these miscreants want Jenica remains a mystery, her friends vow to stay by her side and protect her.

I can't wait for the next Jenica Aimes Novel. Chase Raymond's,The Ugly Inside, begins in the 21st century with a character you're not sure if you are going to like. Before you have time to form a judgment about Jenica, you find yourself blown into an alternative reality. Reading the writer's descriptions of 'Leigh' and its inhabitants comes from a vivid, detailed,and imaginative storyteller. This is one entertaining book. CAUTION This book is addicting.
